On Saturday, January 30th, take part in a new virtual workshop with sound recording expert DAVID ROMAN. Free for Saskatchewan Filmpool members. $20 for non-members.

David Roman (of Roman Empire Studios) is a certified sound editing expert, and we're excited to have him back to follow-up his successful location audio workshop we hosted back in September. This time around, we will be focusing on the fundamentals of sound editing, mixing, and scoring for your indie film projects.

Join us on the 30th to learn the Ins and the Outs -- the Dos and Don'ts -- of post-production audio. David will go over the fundamentals of post audio, evaluate different softwares, explain how to build effective cinematic soundscapes, and demonstrate how to properly incorporate music in your editing timeline. Post-production sound is a vital aspect of film production and can truly make or break a project, so we're excited to have David offer his knowledge and help participants navigate the world of post audio.

David Roman is an Audio Engineer and Composer originally from Weyburn, SK.  He is a sole-proprietor of his own audio business with over a decade of experience Composing, Recording, Mixing, and Sound Designing. David has worked on several award winning films and his audio work has screened at many international festivals.  He has also worked on several commercials and television episodes that are broadcast on social media, television and cinema. Musically, David is a multi-instrumentalist and producer with over twenty years of experience in several genres. He is also highly proficient with Digital Audio Workstations and numerous digital composition tools. This is coupled with a background as a University graduated Social Worker which gives David a unique creative perspective that focuses on empathy and the psychology of artists and characters. It’s no surprise then that David tends to gravitate towards projects with a social conscience whenever possible.

His audio and music work can be heard in films such as “Gas Can”, "From Up North",  “ahkameyimo nitanis / Keep Going My Daughter”, “Talent” and “Humboldt: The New Season”.  David has also worked with local ad agencies to complete work for larger clients such as Sask Power, Sask Energy, Access Communications, SGI, GMC, Michelin and the City of Regina.

We would like to acknowledge that the Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative resides on Treaty 4 territory, and the traditional territory of the Cree, Saulteaux, Assiniboine and Metis peoples.

The Saskatchewan Filmpool is proud to be supported by Canada Council for the Arts, SK Arts, SaskCulture, and Saskatchewan Lotteries.
