The International Puppet Underground Film Festival (IPUFF) brings puppets and film together on the big screen for the first time in Saskatchewan. Watch the world through puppet eyes and join us as we travel back through time with a program of fantastical films, bringing to life the sweet and sometimes bizarre histories of Saskatchewan and beyond.

IPUFF takes to the stage, screen, and gallery on April 6th and 7th, 2013 in Regina SK. In its inaugural year, the festival showcases five curated film screenings at the RPL Film Theatre featuring independent local, prairie and world premieres including a selection from Heather Henson’s Handmade Puppet Dreams. Opening on the Saturday at the Dunlop Art Gallery is PuppEx, a two day exhibition of handmade puppets and props from Saskatchewan-made puppet films.  Meet the people behind the puppets, with artist talks and hands-on workshops. Closing the festival is the Springs n’Strings Soiree at the Saskatchewan Filmpool on the Sunday evening.

The International Puppet Underground Film Festival is presented by the Saskatchewan Filmpool in cooperation with the Dunlop Art Gallery.

We’ve Got Puppets

Our new film fest has a stick up its butt (in a good way)

by Aidan Morgan

Excerpt from the article:
“The puppets have come to Regina.
While the rest of us were marking time until the next season of Game of Thrones and watching the snow slowly bury Regina alive, the puppets were taking shape. A group of Saskatchewan artists and filmmakers (hidden under the snow) were cutting, drawing, painting and shooting, taking stories from Saskatchewan’s past and letting the puppets do the telling.” Click here to keep reading
