About the Event
Join Sandy McLennan for a 2-hour salon of film-projected samples of his Double 8 and Regular 8mm movies, along with some digital-projected samples from NFB movies that influenced his love of filmmaking. There will also be a demonstration of Regular/Double 8mm cameras and film stock and some discussion of using this unique medium on Sandy’s current regional-trains journey in Canada.
Sandy McLennan loves wandering just outside his darkroom door (the home or portable one) with cameras and sound recorders. Processing Double 8/super 8/16mm motion pictures and pinhole-camera paper negatives reveals memory of personal and state-of-the-world emotions. He improvises with audio from shoot-location field recordings and sound associated with work/creation. He leads workshops giving the experience of slow time via analogue technology. He has exhibited motion pictures, photography, installation/performance and sound and has received grants from Canada Council for the Arts and Ontario Arts Council.
