This summer marks the 16th edition of our annual summer youth film program Film Camp! This year’s version will run from August 23rd - 27th and will take place primarily at the Filmpool office in downtown Regina. This week-long intensive program introduces students to the world of cinema and filmmaking through the production of personal short films and collaborative video projects. Students will also engage with analog filmmaking practices, such as shooting and hand processing 16mm film! During Film Camp, youth will learn the in’s and out’s of film production in a fun, exciting, inclusive, and welcoming environment.
This year’s edition is special as we are collaborating with Echo Park Film Centre, a media arts organization based in California/British Columbia, through which we will incorporate their flagship project, The Sound We See to our Film Camp program. This is a worldwide “city symphony” film and art project that participants will engage in and create a film homage to Regina and Treaty 4 territory. This is a great opportunity for our young filmmakers and film enthusiasts and we couldn’t be more excited to bring this to fruition come late-August.
Registration is free of charge this year, although donations are welcome. Food, snacks, and drinks will be provided to campers!
