About Us

The Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative is a member serving artist-run centre founded in 1977 to support and assist independent visionary film and video production in Saskatchewan. We are located in the heart of downtown Regina, Saskatchewan, situated on Treaty 4 Territory, the original lands of the nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakoda, and the homeland of the Métis/Michif Nation.

The Filmpool is committed to developing an awareness and appreciation of independent film that reflects the individual and collective cultural expression of Saskatchewan people. We provide our members with workshops, film and sound editing facilities, analog (super 8, 16mm, 35mm) + digital production equipment and regular funding opportunities. We strive to develop audiences for moving image art + independent cinema and maintain alliances with other cultural organizations.

About the Job

We are seeking a permanent full-time Production Coordinator. The successful candidate would need to be based out of central Treaty 4 Territory or Regina for in office work. They will be responsible for all production activity, including organizing, purchasing and maintaining equipment and facilities. This position is also responsible for facilitating equipment access. They will work on an active team, often as a technical support.

The successful applicant will work alongside the current staff and board to continue the work of redressing gaps in who the organization has served in order to create an affirming and welcoming environment. They will support the organization’s growth in ways that meets the access needs of our current and future members while striving towards a decolonial, anti-racist, queer positive, feminist and underrepresented gender affirming framework. Ideally, the successful candidate would be a past or present member of an Independent Media Arts Alliance (IMAA) organization, preferably the Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Production - 60% of hours worked

- Manage and regularly update our AMS | Network – Arts Management System (membership, equipment, projects and program management system)

- Purchase and maintain equipment, including camera, sound, grip and editing/computer systems

- Manage strategic partnerships and allocations for equipment access to Filmpool members and affiliate organizations

- Set up technical training opportunities for the membership alongside other staff members

- Develop materials for the documentation and safe use of equipment

Operations - 25% of hours worked

- Organize and maintain all working spaces, including editing rooms, equipment rooms, kitchenette and common area

- Maintain and regularly update office and editing computer systems

- Assist staff with online activities, including website maintenance, social media, and live streaming

- Manage technical needs of in-person events, on and offsite

- Bookkeeping support alongside of the Executive Director

Additional Tasks - 15% of hours worked

- Strategic plan support working directly with the Executive Director

- Volunteer management and recruitment

- Engage with research and training on Decolonization, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion alongside Filmpool Staff

- Other duties as assigned

Skills/ Knowledge

- Experience with analog and digital technologies and equipment

- Educational and/or experiential qualifications expected

- Familiarity with the Filmpool as a past or present member preferred

- Bilingual or multilingual proficiency preferred

Salary

- $36 000 annually for 30 hours a week
