SaskFilmCamp 2012 gets rollin’ and hustling!

The Filmpool is hosting some special guests this week: participating youth of the Seventh Annual SaskFilm

Summer Film Camp (2012). Seventeen enthusiastic participants, ages 13 to 17, along with four instructors [Berny Hi, Kristine Dowler, Mariel Scammell, and Mattias Graham] will be engaged in an exciting weeklong event full of filmmaking fun, education and production – culminating in a week ending film screening at Regina’s RPL Film Theatre. Students will be introduced to professional production and postproduction techniques, various film types and genres, as well as opportunities to write, produce and star in their own films!

But first: The Hustle! The students got to know each other in a quick warm up exercise of creating a small dance video featuring The Hustle.

The Filmpool is extremely proud of the success of this annual camp; as many of its participants over the years have gone on to pursue film at post secondary educational institutions, including the camp’s lead instructor Mattias Graham. Mattias is currently is attending film school at Concordia University in Montréal.

The Fimpool would like to sincerely thank the camp’s naming sponsor SaskFilm for their ongoing generous support of this event, as well as our other sponsors SaskTel and Conexus Credit Union. Thank you to the University of Regina’s 4th year students for donating their screening revenue to sponsor two youth’s entrance fee to the camp. It is much appreciated.

Please join us this Friday (July 20), 3:30 PM at the RPL Film Theatre for a public screening of short films made by the filmmakers of tomorrow!
