Programming and Mentorship Coordinator
The Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative is seeking a Programming and Mentorship Coordinator for a 12 month contract with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate would need to be based out of Treaty 4 Territory/Regina for a combination of remote and in office work.
The Programming and Mentorship Coordinator will support the ongoing needs of the organization through bringing innovative ideas to our collaborative team. Ideally, the successful candidate will be a past or present member of an Independent Media Arts Alliance (IMAA) organization, preferably the Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative.
The Programming and Mentorship Coordinator will ensure that Filmpool members are engaged with current initiatives while also reviewing how the organization approaches mentorship and programming. Program evaluation will be a key component of the role.
The successful applicant will support the organizations growth in ways that meet the access needs of our current and future members while striving towards a decolonial, anti-racist, queer positive, feminist and underrepresented gender affirming framework.
With mentorship as a core component of the role, the successful applicant will work alongside the current staff and board while we continue the work of redressing gaps in who the organization has served in order to create a supportive and welcoming environment.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Program Delivery and Evaluation: 40% of hours worked
Lead bimonthly event delivery (often occurring during evenings and weekends)
Develop an evaluation model for program outcomes using a participant action research framework alongside of the Executive Director
Assist with online promotion of events in collaboration with the Member Innovation Coordinator
Co-lead developing a strategy for wholistic inclusion of underrepresented demographics alongside of the Executive Director
Mentorship Facilitation: 30% of hours worked
Work alongside the Executive Director to redress the historically ‘settler first’ context of film production centres
Spearhead a mentorship strategy for members in collaboration with Filmpool staff
Lead the development of innovative approaches to mentorship with the support of Filmpool staff
Develop a roster of mentors from a broad range of demographics for Filmpool members to engage modeled after MAWA’s Mentors on the Fly program
Coordinate our annual Trudy Steward Award alongside of the Production Coordinator
Accessibility: 15% of hours worked
Ensure a range of access considerations are planned for alongside event delivery (booking ASL interpreters, etc.)
Develop ways of dismantling barriers to access for current and future membership and programming alongside Filmpool staff
Additional Tasks: 15% of hours worked
Quarterly meetings with programming committee chair
Quarterly programming committee meetings
Engage with research and training on Decolonization, Diversity and Equity alongside Filmpool staff
Other duties as assigned
Skills/Knowledge
Experience with program design and delivery (screenings, zoom/virtual delivery, workshops, etc.)
Experience with or interest in program evaluation (systems thinking, decolonial, holistic, etc.)
Experience with or interest in analog film technologies/processes
Bilingual or multilingual proficiency desired
Educational and/or experiential qualifications expected
Salary
$36 000 annually for 30 hours a week

The Saskatchewan Filmpool Cooperative is a non-profit artist-run centre supporting and assisting independent visionary film and video production in Saskatchewan. We are located at 301 - 1822 Scarth Street - in the heart of downtown Regina, Saskatchewan, situated on Treaty 4 Territory, the original lands of the nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakoda, and the homeland of the Métis/Michif Nation.
The Filmpool is committed to developing an awareness and appreciation of independent film that reflects the individual and collective cultural expression of Saskatchewan people. We provide our members with film and sound editing facilities, 16mm production equipment, and regular funding opportunities.
To serve our mandate, the Filmpool provides programming in five key areas; Production, Workshops, Exhibition, Communications and Outreach. We strive to develop audiences for moving image art and independent cinema and maintain alliances with other cultural organizations.
