Hello there, this is the Filmpool’s Programming Coordinator, Noelle Duddridge, here to share a bit about my recent experience at my first IMAA National Media Arts Summit held June 8-11 in Halifax.
IMAA stands for the Independent Media Arts Alliance, and is an umbrella organization that a number of arts organizations, including the Filmpool, are members of. They describe themselves as: a non-profit national arts service organization that promotes and advances the interests of a vibrant media arts community. Representing over 90 independent film, video, and new media production, distribution, and exhibition organizations in all parts of Canada, the IMAA serves over 16,000 independent media artists and cultural workers.
The Tidal Force Summit happened over a week in the beautiful city of Halifax at the very impressive Neptune Scotiabank Studio Theatre. The week was filled with a number of great panel talks, nightly HIFF screenings, an excursion to Peggy’s Cove, and the National Media Arts Award Reception.
