Membership Renewal Due April 1st

What a fantastic year it’s been at the Filmpool! Thanks for all your support, including your valuable contributions to our Saskatchewan independent filmmaking community. I know many of you were involved with your own productions, assisted others, or attended many of our Filmpool events and activities. It was a very busy, but successful year at the Filmpool.

2017 – 2018 promises to be even more special, as this year we celebrate the Filmpool’s 40th Anniversary! Thursday (March 16), we launched our celebration with a 40th birthday party at the Filmpool – what a great turn out from members and from the community! Special thanks to Don List and Brock Stevens who attended and spoke at the event. Don and Brock were two of the six founding members of the Filmpool, and who helped start it all exactly 40 years ago!

Over the years, the Filmpool has been such a dynamic, diversified and important film organization. It is estimated we have supported between 2500 to 3000 films since 1977, and have helped literally thousands of filmmakers get their films produced, completed and screened to audiences throughout the province and beyond. In association with our workshop and programming schedules, and our numerous partnership activities – we have made a strong and lasting contribution to not only the art of film and filmmaking, but to Saskatchewan’s overall cultural landscape. We should all be very proud of these accomplishments.

Needless to say, this support, which the Filmpool has provided so passionately and faithfully over the years, requires funding to keep going. Each year at this time we ask our current members to renew their membership for 2017 – 2018. We appreciate your support so very much. The Filmpool could not offer its many services to our community without its committed membership base – so thank you again!

Please always check out our website filmpool.ca, like us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter or Instagram @SaskFilmpool – for all upcoming Filmpool activities, membership updates and accomplishments.

Lastly, to commemorate the Filmpool’s 40th Anniversary Celebration, PLEASE mark this in your calendars! On Saturday, September 09, 2017 – the Filmpool, in association with our incredible partners at Bushwakkers Brewpub – will launch and release its very own beer called Wheat Soup!  We are very excited about this tapping of the keg party! It promises to be too much fun, with special guest speakers, films and food! Wheat Soup is the name of Saskatchewan’s very first independent feature film made in 1987 by two of our current Filmpool members Brian Stockton and Gerald Saul.

Please visit our website to renew your membership, mail us a cheque, or visit us in person! Thanks again for supporting the Filmpool and independent filmmaking in Saskatchewan! Gordon Pepper
