Dear Filmpool Members,
Â
We are thrilled to announce that Shari Hildred, PMP, will join the Filmpool as our contract Executive Director for the coming year!
Â
With 20+ years of executive experience across the private, public, and nonprofit sectors—including deep expertise in arts and cultural management—Shari brings an exceptional track record to the Filmpool. Her background includes:
Â
Senior leadership roles in Saskatchewan’s cultural sector, including CFO & A/CEO of the MacKenzie Art Gallery, Director of Finance & Operations at the Mendel Art Gallery (supporting the Remai Modern project), and Executive Director of the Civic Museum of Regina
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, with expertise in strategic planning, governance, financial management, and organizational development
Recognition for excellence, including a 2020 Canadian Business Award for Executive Leadership, a 2014 nomination for the Mayor’s Arts and Business Award (Excellence in Arts Management), and multiple heritage conservation awards
Extensive facilitation and training experience with the University of Regina, Government of Saskatchewan, and numerous arts nonprofits
Â
Under this arrangement, the Filmpool will be a Core Client of her company, Valmore Consulting, ensuring dedicated leadership while maximizing value for our organization.
Shari’s consulting practice focuses on helping organizations strengthen operations, governance, and sustainability—exactly what the Filmpool needs as we evolve. Her leadership will allow us to:
Â
✔ Stabilize finances (saving ~$20K this year through efficiencies) ✔ Improve systems for member services and future growth ✔ Rebuild strategically, ensuring our technical resources meet filmmakers’ needs
Â
An Update on Our Reopening: While we had originally aimed to reopen on April 1, we will now be phasing our relaunch as we work with Shari to ensure we rebuild on a solid foundation. We appreciate your patience during this transition period—good things take time!
Â
That said, we have exciting news coming soon about our Creation Assistance programs, so stay tuned for announcements in the coming weeks. We’re committed to supporting independent filmmakers every step of the way, and we can’t wait to share what’s next.
Â
This is a pivotal moment for the Filmpool, and we’re confident Shari’s expertise will help us build a stronger foundation for independent filmmakers and artists. Thank you for being part of this journey with us!
Â
Warmly, Mattias Graham, President
Kyath Battie, Vice-president On behalf of the Board of Directors
